This industry accolade comes at the end of another hugely successful year and is a great reward to highlight the dedication and hard work of all the team at Smiley, who have expanded the brands roster of licensees and grown sales at retail, as well as promoting Smiley collections and licensees’ products at a host of trade shows all over the world.
That’s not all though, Smiley was also placed amongst the top 10 licensing brands in the Art & Design category! This really reflects the Smiley ethos of creating trends and not just being a typical ’nuts and bolts’ licensing brand, through its continued investment into its state of the art in-house design studio and resourcing a full service in-house creative marketing agency. The designers and illustrators at Smiley have churned out thousands of unique and iconic graphical Smileys, style guides across multiple product categories, and B2B and B2C marketing campaigns that have kept Smiley at the forefront of global popular culture.
2016 has been an amazing year for Smiley, as the brand has capitalised on its position as the creators of the world’s first graphical Smileys which sparked a major communication trend and placed Smiley firmly at the forefront of the digital communications trend. This has led to stellar collaborations in the market during 2016 with some of the biggest and best brands in the world from Selfridges, Dunkin’ Donuts, and QSR restaurant chain Quick through to upscale collaborations with Camilla Elphick, Moschino, and Anya Hindmarch.
Next year shows no sign of let up, with Smiley celebrating the 20th anniversary since its CEO Nicolas Loufrani created the world’s first digital Smileys. To celebrate this landmark event Smiley will be launching a major promotional partnership that will see 130 million Smiley branded bottles of water enter retail throughout Europe, as well as a huge campaign with one of Europe’s leading supermarket chains, many other major retail activations with partners all over the world, global press campaigns and TV advertising.
