SmileyWorld is delighted to announce an exciting new publishing deal with Scholastic, the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books.

The new deal which covers rights for the UK and Eire will see Scholastic launch a range of SmileyWorld titles including sticker books, activity books, interactive journals and other titles aimed at tweens and teens.

Scouted by Scholastic’s Maya Maraj, this new partnership will highlight SmileyWorld’s key values of self-expression and emotional development for children by leveraging its amazing archive of visual content and dictionary of icons.  The Smiley Scholastic titles will be published by Elizabeth Scoggins, Licensing and Non Fiction Publisher, and the first book is set to be launched in Autumn 2016 across UK and Ireland.

Lori Heiss, (VP, Brand Strategy Toys, Publishing, Digital, FMCG at Smiley) states:

“Smiley is thrilled to be partnering with Scholastic, a leading publisher for innovative and exciting children’s books the world over. We are looking forward to creating titles which will spread smiles across the UK by bringing to life the core SmileyWorld brand values of self-expression and happiness.”

SmileyWorld continues to grow its presence in the publishing market as the ever-increasing demand for Smiley’s original archive of over 3,000 expressive icons continues to grow, so does the market for books featuring this rich range of artwork. With a range of titles already in the market for adults and kids and ranging from illustrated novels through to the brands bestselling range of sticker books, Scholastic will complement this roster of world class licensees with new titles later this year.

With a range of exciting new opportunities available in publishing and with the happiness and emojicon trends continuing to dominate the market, now is a great time for licensees to partner with a brand that provides an authentic platform for young people to express themselves.
