Rays of Sunshine are an amazing UK-based charity that grants wishes, hospital ward wishes, and hosts outings and events for large groups of seriously ill children across the country. The charity makes sure to stay in contact with families after their wishes have been granted to continue providing them with uplifting experiences to create beautiful family memories, and this year’s Christmas party was one of the biggest yet!
More than 600 people attended the awesome event, taking part in activities including build-a-reindeer, hook a Christmas duck, snowball in a bucket, snow dome making, dance competitions and of course the highlight of any Christmas party – a visit to Santa’s Grotto to meet the big man himself and receive some gifts donated by Smiley, including apparel, stationary and toys! 😀
The crafty kids also got the chance to design a very special Christmas card which will be sold in Clinton’s stores across the UK to raise money for Rays of Sunshine in 2018!
Strictly Come Dancing’s head judge Shirley Ballas even took time out from her busy schedule to pop in to the party and greet the guests, she even judged the kids dance competition and handed out exclusive Smiley prizes! 🙂
Amongst the children who attended was Haydn, Bella, Curtis and Phoebe. Afterwards, dads Garry and Kyle said:
“Haydn, Bella, Curtis and Pheobe are four very special children – three have complex medical health needs, and their sister Phoebe is a wonderful caring sister. All four of our children have overcome some pretty horrific situations.
That’s why days like today are so very, very special. The moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. Greeted at the door by two very nice gentlemen, working with staff and volunteers to draw Christmas cards, make snow globes, visit Santa, design pencil cases, have our nails painted, hook a duck, throw a hoop – and dance with Snow White – the kids had a ball! Everything was organised so well – no family had cause to complain, or not be entertained!
Having a Snow White that could sign as well as show some pretty cool dance moves was heart-warming.
On arriving home, they had to unwrap their Santa presents, check out their craft items they lovingly were helped to make, count the copious number of sweets they were given. All four will have some lovely stories to share with their friends tomorrow. THANK YOU to you and the whole team of staff and volunteers that made our day so special.”
